What's specific to students from India

  • Your school system

Northeastern requires your Indian Standard X board exam results, sent by your school, and highly recommends sending Standard XII board results, or predicted grades if they come after decisions. Every enrolling student sends final results; if they fall outside an acceptable range of your predictions, Northeastern can rescind the offer.

For every international applicant

  • English test

Northeastern waives the English test if, right before enrolling, you'll have completed four consecutive full-time years at schools where native English was the language of instruction for all courses except foreign languages. Ask for the waiver in your Application Status Check.

  • Financial aid

International students aren't eligible for financial aid at Northeastern, neither need-based grants nor federal aid. Every complete application is considered for merit scholarships.

Leave the board-exam essay behind

Board exams reward a thesis, a plan and a conclusion. A personal statement starts in a moment and lets the reader follow you through it. Watch for Indian-English phrasing such as “do the needful”, “prepone” or “I am having”, and explain things like JEE coaching in half a sentence: your reader may never have heard of it.
